I was lucky to be invited to the SkyFire pre-beta 2 new user experience lunch a week ago, and got the SkyFire browser on my Window Mobile phone. After playing it for a day or two, I was very happy with it, because it basically delivered what it supposed to do – desktop Internet browser experience on a phone. I had a post last week showing the major key features that I like. Today I am going to tell you one of the best things that I found – making free international phone calls on the go with SkyFire and Jajah.
If you haven’t heard of Jajah, well, don’t worry, you will hear it soon, just like Skype in three four year ago. Jajah is also an Internet phone service, but it does differently than Skype. You initiate calls from Jajah website by selecting two numbers – yours and the other party you want to call. Jajah will call your number, once you pick up, Jajah will connect to the other number. If both numbers are registered in Jajah, your call is free, even for international calls. If you are in US, you get 150 minutes per week for free calls. To me, that’s more than enough.
The only inconvenience using Jajah is that you need to login their site in web browser to initiate the phone. If you are not in office or home, the only way to access their site is by your phone. Unfortunately the Pocket IE doesn’t support their website, Opera can access site, but the layout is totally messed up, so it’s really difficult to see the contact and select the number. Jajah does provide a mobile site, but any calls initiated from that site is not free, even between two registered Jajah users. Skyfire solved this problem. I can access my Jajah account on Skyfire, the web page is displayed just like on desktop PC, and I can easily select numbers from the contact list and call. With Skyfire and Jajah, now you can quickly make international calls for free!
